I’m not sure why my parents resisted the upgrade in television for so long. Maybe it was because they never felt the need to pay for something that according to my dad, “should be free anyway,” or maybe some other reason. 

All I know is this, the only channels we receive with any clarity are two of the major networks and one (or two on a clear day) of the UHF channels. That’s it.

But soon, things are going to change. With digital TV on the looming horizon, I think my dad’s going to make the switch to the Dish Network California.

I think it’s because he’s addicted to all those garage shows he watches at his buddy’s house.
