Single-seater racing cars
The famous Alfa Romeo company started the evolution of true Single-seater racing in the early 1930s and it is now the most popular motorsport with millions of viewers. The major form of Single-seater racing is more commomly known as Formula One. This is the world championship for professional drivers and car constructors and comprises around 18 races held in differnet countries across the globe. The basic premise behind Formula One is that the chasis has to be made by the constructor e;g. Ferrari, Toyota, etc. The chasis cannot be supplied to a competitor. Such is the competitiveness between the major car manufacturers it means that Formula One is the most expensive sport in the world.
